Behind the Music Projects: Resources Edition

Fun fact: with  over 22,000 successful projects , the Music category has the most successfully-funded projects of any category on Kickstarter. People have paired food with classical music , hosted live performances with colorful visual projections , built recording studios , and much more.  We've always admired the way creators channel the energy of live shows, album launches, and recording sessions into their live campaigns. That's why we've gathered a number of resources for budding musicians interested in launching their own project on Kickstarter. Whether you're a singer, soloist, producer, or band manager contemplating a new project, bookmark this post and consider it your quintessential guide to getting started.

Hang Out with Fellow Creators

No one knows more about running a music project than the creators who have already done it. We sat down with Unwoman , Rob Moose of  yMusic , Robert and Maria of Blue Hats Creative , and Jenn de la Vega to chat about the inspiration behind their projects and how they managed their campaigns. Our recap summarizes the expert advice they provided, but we'd recommend watching the conversations all the way through.  If you have questions that you'd like to ask, check out which creators we'll be speaking to during our upcoming #CreatorHangouts , or ask the community on Campus .

As part of our Creator Basics series , we spoke to Tim Fite , Kim Boekbinder , Jenn de la Vega, and Jillian Speece of The Bergamot . Here's their advice on everything from creating an online presence before you launch to hosting reward packaging parties:

Meet the #KickstarterMusic Team Our Music Outreach Lead, Hayley Rosenblum, and Head of Music Molly Neuman spend their time talking to creators about their ideas and helping them put together campaigns. If you haven't had a chance to meet them yet, check out their full primer on using Kickstarter right here . We'll also be live-tweeting a few of their SXSW talks this week, so stay tuned to @ KickstarterTips  on Twitter. Looking for more inspiration? We always recommend taking a look at projects in your own category to see how other creators have structured their campaigns, set their goals, and communicated what they're making. Start with the projects in the Music Team's roundup , then look through a few in your project's subcategory .
