After losing everything in the Christchurch earthquake, including all of our family photos, we were forced to move to a small town in the South Island of New Zealand.
Not long after we arrived my daughter lost her father suddenly in an accident and therefore she became depressed. Eventually she became suicidal and was put on medication which helped. She is now doing much better and is no longer on medication, but while she was going through this trauma, she was bullied by a few other girls in her school and has lost confidence and trust in others. She now no longer leaves her room, socializes or contacts any other teen, either in real life or social media. She has not left her room this year except for one dental visit.
But she has had one very huge passion for a few years now. Even though she’s part Russian, part Kiwi, she absolutely loves the Asian culture, mainly Japanese and Chinese. She would love to go study Martial Arts in China for a few years. I believe this will be very helpful for her confidence as well as learning all about another culture aside from her own.
These are the 3 places that I am looking at.
Kunyu Mountain Shaolin Martial Arts Academy
Shengjing Shan Traditional Kung Fu Academy
Songshan Shaolin Kung Fu Traditional Wushu Academy
She would dearly love to go and train at one of these Academies.
I am in agreement with her and think this would be very beneficial for her health and her mental health. It will build her confidence and her strength as she has been all but bedridden for the last 2 and a half years. Although she will be yet again quite isolated, she’ll be residing with and interacting with other students from around the world.
Our aim is to save enough funds for the cost of the course, for the flight and the other fees that are involved.
Before the earthquakes and the loss of her father. Luckily saved from drop box.
During her depression.
A picture of her father a couple of years before he passed away.
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.
